Who we are

The Joël Lobanzo Monsheni private foundation (J.L.M. For Ever) was created by the Lobanzo Monsheni family following the death of their son, Joël Lobanzo Monsheni. After observing images taken by his friend, we discovered that our son died as a result of the ignorance of the coaches present on the field. In the event of a heart attack, first aid (especially the first five minutes) is hugely important in determining the outcome. For Joël, the people on the field were unfortunately unable to carry out effective cardiac massage. Massage began at the feet, while Joël was still conscious and speaking, before proceeding with cardiac massage for ten minutes, without the use of a defibrillator – despite one being within reach. The ambulance arrived 20 minutes later. Adding up all these errors, our son was sentenced to death. That's why, although it will never bring our son back, we want to avoid this ever happening again. With this in mind, we decided to turn our pain into a force for good. This force allowed us to create the Joël Lobanzo Monsheni foundation (J.L.M. For Ever), to ensure that Joël is not forgotten.

THE FOUNDATION'S MISSIONS

The missions conferred upon the Joël Lobanzo Monsheni private foundation, under the abbreviation J.L.M. For Ever, as published in the Official Belgian Gazette under heading no. 0750940544, are as follows

  • 1. The purchase and distribution of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), electronic blood pressure monitors and thermometers, in Belgium and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Africa.
  • 2. To make first aid courses for heart attacks widely available to the public, using training dummies and defibrillators as teaching materials.
  • 3. To help disadvantaged young people in public places, train stations and elsewhere. This will be carried out both in Belgium and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Africa.
  • 4. To support small projects for young people not in employment or education, in Belgium and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Africa).
